2. Illinois Illini

While the fates of both Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn are unknown, what is known is the departure of wing Alan Griffin to Syracuse this offseason. And with lead guard Trent Frazier set to leave the team after next year, the Illini will have to find more talent in the 2021 class to make up for losing several future pros.

Four-star sharpshooter Luke Goode already committed, Illinois could definitely use a combo forward the likes of Stanley at either forward position. He can start or be a 6th man for the team but have a major role. For head coach Brad Underwood, it’s important to add a veteran in next year’s full haul to avoid being filled with all underclassmen.

1. Maryland Terrapins

Since a transfer is involved, of course the Terrapins are going to be in the picture. But this time, it truly makes perfect sense for someone like Stanley to join the team since it’s a legit “hometown” option. If he were to go to Maryland, a waiver is a legit possibility to occur.

That would be great for a Terps team that lacks a wing and a true forward with scoring potential. As of now, Boston College forward transfer Jairus Hamilton needs a waiver to play, with him being less likely to get one. That would leave Donta Scott, Galin Smith, and Chol Marial in the frontcourt, none of which are proven offensive weapons.

If Stanley gets a waiver, he’ll be a needed piece for the Terps and its talented returning perimeter core. And even if he can’t the Hampton scorer can join top-100 class of 2021 recruits Ike Cornish and Julian Reese to reload for the following season. This is a perfect fit for both sides and there isn’t a team I’m thinking of that Stanley would find as a better situation.
