NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing 2021 PG Angelo Brizzi top 8 teams
Arizona Wildcats
The point guard situation in Tuscon is a bit confusing, considering that sophomore Brandon Williams still hasn’t been fully cleared to play next season, after missing all of last year. Georgetown transfer James Akinjo isn’t currently eligible until the middle of the regular season. Then there’s incoming four-star international commit in Kerr Kriisa.
Head coach Sean Miller has traditionally done well with scoring point guards and at his best, Brizzi can look like future 1st round NBA Draft pick Nico Mannion did last season. But if Kriisa is as good as advertised, it’ll be hard for this prospect to find his way into the starting lineup for the Wildcats.
California Bears
The rebuilding Bears have been busy this offseason in the transfer portal, landing three players. Two of them are point guards, including Stony Brook grad transfer Makale Foreman and Fresno State sit-out transfer Jarred Hyder. Foreman will only be around for one season so he won’t factor into the equation.
As for Hyder, he was solid in his lone season with the Bulldogs and will have three years left of eligibility. Brizzi can certainly compete with the former Fresno State player or immediate minutes and at the bare minimum would be part of the rotation for a team looking to get back to Pac-12 contention. If early playing time is important, Cal could have a shot in this.
