Utah State Aggies

Whether you subscribe to the philosophy of ‘success is relative’ or ‘success is how you define it’ a strong recruiting class for Utah State Basketball looks different than some of the others discussed. With that said, it is none the less important for fans, players, and coaches alike. In the case of the Aggies, it is important for them to maintain their status as Mountain West Conference Tournament (MWC) Champions and to become MWC Regular Season Champions.

With just two seniors not returning for 2020-21 season, albeit leading scorer Sam Merill (19.7 ppg) is included in that duo, Coach Craig Smith has shown some foresight. In order to prepare for the six seniors who may depart at the conclusion of the upcoming season, Coach Smith has four freshmen joining the Aggies. Although, Szymon Zapala is the only one who moves the national ranking needle at No.131 according to 247sports.

The next couple of years the fans at Smith Spectrum are going to witness Brock Miller (8.4 ppg), Justin Bean (11.9 ppg, 10.5 rpg), and Neemias Oueta (13 ppg, 7.8 rpg) carry the load. As their senior years play out, in order to punch their ticket to the tournament and build momentum to finally bring some consistency to the ever-fluid top of the MWC standings, a strong 2021 class is essential.
