Creighton Bluejays

Another offense that thrives for guards, the Bluejays were able to have a trio who excelled last season. Ty-Shon Alexander has decided to enter the NBA Draft this offseason, while Mitchell Ballock will be a rising senior. And star point guard Marcus Zegarowski can easily go pro after next season, meaning that there will need to be a new core group of perimeter players for the program.

Creighton already has top-60 freshman guard Rati Andronikashvili coming in, along with four-star class of 2021 commit Ryan Nembhard, brother of current Gonzaga transfer Andrew. Whether it’s ultimately a deal-breaker for Washington to join alongside Nembhard in the same class remains to be seen but the team has shown an ability to give plenty of playing time for all quality guards.

LSU Tigers

The team has been busy filling out the frontcourt this offseason, including a pair of 2021 commits in Jerrell Colbert and Bradley Ezewiro. But they still need to find more guards, particularly if  Ja’vonte Smart decides to go pro after next season. Four-star guard Eric Gaines is coming in for his freshman season, along with likely one and done five-star prospect Cam Thomas.

The Tigers can certainly offer Washington a role in his early years with the program, although they’re still are questions as to whether or not the program could face potential sanctions from the NCAA from their involvement in alleged recruiting misconduct. If that happens, the team needs to secure a quality ball-handler from this class or risk missing out.
