NCAA Basketball: Analyzing top-100 PG Tyty Washington top 10 teams
Ole Miss Rebels
Star scoring guard Breein Tyree is gone but leading passer Devontae Shuler is back for his senior season to lead the backcourt. Top-30 shooting guard Matthew Murrell is also joining the team for the upcoming campaign and has the potential to only be around for one season before going to the NBA Draft.
Ole Miss has a number of seniors and will be having to rebuild after 2021. But with top-50 point guard Daeshun Ruffin having already committed, it could be tough for Washington to pick this team as well and risk being a constant backup on the roster. With other options without a clear replacement on this list, Washington may lean toward them instead of the Rebels.
New Mexico Lobos
Another option involved with Frankie Collins, the Lobos are looking for another guard to pair with UNC transfer ball-handler Jeremiah Francis. There’s a clear need for a guard in the 2021 class with Zane Martin graduating after next season and Washington’s ability to scorer would be a nice fit with Francis for the 2021-22 campaign.
Head coach Paul Weir is completely rebuilding the roster after the transfer experiment went array. But if he wants to avoid the hot seat, he’ll have to land some quality newcomers in the next recruiting class that can make an immediate impact. With teams such as Utah State, San Deigo State, and Boise State starting to separate themselves from the others in the Mountain West, New Mexico could certainly use a top-100 talent such as Washington to start to close the gap.
