18. Allen Betrand – Towson to Rhode Island

2019-20 stats: 13.6 ppg and 2.7 rpg

After losing several players to the transfer portal, the Rams brought in several of their own this offseason. But with none of them classified as “graduate transfers”, they’ll all need waivers to play in 2020-21. But the most important one, in my opinion, is Betrand.

The 6’5 wing had a breakout campaign as a sophomore, shooting 44% from the field, 39% from three-point range, and 87% from the charity stripe. The All-CAA performer showed an ability to be a high-scorer, including a career-high 31 points at Drexel. Returning lead scorer Fatts Russell is going to need some help on the perimeter to avoid harassed all the time and the best option for that will be Betrand.

17. Chaundee Brown – Wake Forest to Michigan

2019-20 stats: 12.1 ppg and 6.5 rpg

Brown made the decision to leave Wake Forest before the coaching change, which may have an impact on his ability to get a waiver. And despite his talents, the 6’5 guard/wing is down on this list due to the good news that Isaiah Livers is returning to the Wolverines, limiting how big a need Brown is to have for the upcoming season.

But make no mistake, the former Wake Forest player would be a solid addition, adding his strong rebounding ability and high ceiling as a scorer. Brown wasn’t as consistent on a night-to-night basis but he could be an elite 6th man to come off the bench and produce double figures.
