14. Alan Griffin – Illinois to Syracuse

2019-20 stats: 8.9 ppg and 4.5 rpg

The Orange is bringing back four starters from last season’s team, including a pair of dynamic guards in Buddy Boeheim and Joe Girard III. But the one departure was a big one in Elijah Hughes, a wing who led the team in scoring at around 17 ppg. The team has some underclassmen candidates that can play but for the sake of depth, hopes to have the Illinois transfer Griffin eligible this fall.

Despite coming off the bench last season, the 6’5 wing had a number of great scoring games, including a four-game stretch of double-digit performances. Griffin also had a 24-point scoring game against Northwestern, making 6/8 from deep. Having someone like Griffin who can shoot it as well as Hughes did would be a major boost for the Orange to get back to the NCAA Tournament.

13. David Dejulius – Michigan to Cincinnati

2019-20 stats: 7.0 ppg and 1.5 rpg

As a reserve, the 6’1 guard didn’t see a pathway towards being a starter, so he ended up transferring out. His numbers won’t blow anyone out of the water but given more playing time, projects as a double-digit performer and sound shooter.

The Bearcats certainly could use Dejulius this upcoming season to pair with Keith Williams in the backcourt. The departures of both Jarron and Jaevin Cumberland haven’t been fully replaced and there isn’t a clear-cut starting point guard. If he can get a waiver, don’t be surprised if this is the new starting PG, or at least part of a committee.
