Louisville Cardinals

After the surprise defection of JUCO commit Jay Scrubb to the NBA Draft, the Cardinals replaced him with grad transfer guards Carlik Jones and Charles Minlend for the upcoming season. They’ll be looking for another shooting guard to join current 2021 commits Bobby Pettiford Jr. and Eric van der Heijden.

Even with top-rated 2021 JUCO prospect El Ellis already committed, Louisville could use a guard who can really shoot the ball well. David Johnson shot just 22% from three-point range as a freshman so having Dunn compliment him on the perimeter would be the ideal setting if the Cardinals can create it.

North Carolina Tar Heels

As currently residing in North Carolina, Dunn has been on the Tar Heels radar, having offered a scholarship months ago. The program is arguably the most high-profile option for Dunn among the group, which also means that it’s the biggest risk as well. Even better prospects could join the 2021 class on the perimeter, forcing Dunn to play much less than hoped for.

But despite having the No. 2 incoming recruiting class and featuring a number of five-star recruits, there still is a big need for additional shooting guards on the roster. Right now, there’s only four-star freshman Kerwin Walton and sophomore Leaky Black, who shot 25% from deep as a freshman.

Regardless of who the point guard and frontcourt stars are, they’ll need good shooting to truly be a national contender. Barring a surprise five-star SG commitment, Dunn would be a nice option to have.
