NCAA Basketball: Quartet of SEC Schools make 2021 G Trey Alexander’s top 7

Kansas Jayhawks
The sole blue-blood program on Alexander’s list has several cards up their sleeve in the pursuit of signing the talented guard. The Jayhawks are looking to piece together a strong 2021 class and are already on their way to accomplishing that with a pair of frontcourt commitments from Zachary Clemence and KJ Adams.
The latter, as Alexander’s teammate with grassroots program Team Griffin, could play a pivotal role in helping to convince him to sign with Kansas. The pair have put on many notable performances together in action this summer and already display good chemistry playing with one another.
However, Alexander also has the added consideration of immediately starting for the Jayhawks in 2021. With Marcus Garrett and Ochai Agbaji, as well as freshman Bryce Thompson, likely to take on greater responsibilities in all areas of the game this season, there is an even greater chance that Kansas’ backcourt will see a major rotational reshuffle in 2021.
The team looks to be set at the point guard spot, but weaker on the wings where Alexander could utilize his length and versatility towards increased minutes.
His ability to move between multiple perimeter positions and maintain his scoring threat is something the Jayhawks struggled to find last season specifically with a secondary ball-handler behind Devon Dotson.
Alexander’s documented all-around production is going to be a premium skillset among a group that is limited in shot creation, as the 2021 roster currently projects. All together his overall ability on the floor could easily move towards being one of Coach Self’s primary options when he steps on campus.
