Syracuse Basketball
LOUISVILLE, KY – FEBRUARY 19: Head coach Jim Boeheim of the Syracuse Orange (Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images) /

445. . . . Orange . 8. team

Like many of the teams before them, Syracuse finished the 2019-20 season in the middle of the pack with an 18-14 overall record, and a 10-10 record in the ACC. Not only that, but Syracuse was one of the only teams in the ACC to actually win a game in the 2020 ACC Tournament.

That’s beside the point though, Syracuse had somewhat of a down year last season, and unfortunately for the Orange, they lost their leading scorer and second-leading assist getter, Elijah Hughes.

That being said, someone like Buddy Boeheim or Joseph Girard III is going to have to step up during the 2020-21 season and fill the shoes left behind by Hughes.

In addition to that, Syracuse also got a commit from Kadary Richmond, a four-star freshman ranked 84th nationally by 247 Sports, plus two three-stars in Woody Newton and Frank Anselem, plus a transfer from Illinois in Alan Griffin.

Nonetheless, Syracuse added several players who could make an impact for the 2020-21 season, and with that, here is what their 2020-21 roster will look like:

  • Frank Anselem, Freshman, Center
  • Arthur Cordes, Freshman, Guard
  • Shane Feldman, Freshman, Guard
  • Woody Newton, Freshman, Forward
  • Chaz Owens, Freshman, Forward
  • Kadary Richmond, Freshman, Forward
  • John Bol Ajak, Redshirt Freshman, Center
  • Jesse Edwards, Sophomore, Center
  • Joseph Girard III, Sophomore, Guard
  • Quincy Guerrier, Sophomore, Forward
  • Robert Braswell, Redshirt Sophomore, Forward
  • Buddy Boeheim, Junior, Guard
  • Alan Griffin, Junior, Forward
  • Marek Dolezaj, Senior, Forward
  • Nick Giancola, Senior, Forward
  • Chris Lavalle, Senior, Guard
  • Bourama Sidibe, Senior, Center

Syracuse has a huge roster with 17 players for the 2020-21 season, but I imagine Buddy Boeheim, Joseph Girard III, Marek Dolezaj, and Quincy Guerrier will be the most impactful.

Behind Elijah Hughes, Boeheim, Girard, Dolezaj, and Guerrier rounded out Syracuse’s top-five leading scorers, and three of the four were part of Syracuse’s top-five scorers, and also three of the top-five assist getters.

Syracuse has potential for the 2020-21 season, but someone must step into Hughes’ shoes if they want to live up to that potential.
