NCAA Basketball: 10 most watchable teams for 2020-21 season
By Ian Mumm
1. Villanova Wildcats
Jay Wright’s group always comes to play and getting to watch the Wildcats play is one of the purest appreciations in college basketball you can find. They’re a well-disciplined team that shares the ball and makes you shake your head in awe, even if you’re rooting against them.
The 2020 roster returns nearly every member from the 2019 team, with the exception of forward Saddiq Bey. Led by senior guard Collin Gillespie, Villanova is a strong and efficient perimeter team. They play with an excellent change of pace and capitalize on their opponent’s mistakes.
Sophomore guards Justin Moore and Bryan Antoine are dangerous scoring threats and are aiming to take another step forward in their development and roles with the team. Tulane transfer Caleb Daniels is now eligible and adds another top-notch scoring threat to add in the rotation.
Frontcourt star Jeremiah Robinson-Earl spurned the NBA Draft and will anchor the Wildcats down low. His ability to stretch the floor is not unlike fellow forwards Jermaine Samuels and Cole Swider, who will each be looking to stake their claim to the available shot attempts left by Bey’s departure.
This year’s Villanova team is again a national title favorite and the huge amount of roster continuity is a great sign for the long-term outlook of their expected performance in 2020. There are no holes with this squad and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them cut the nets again.
