Impact of Skyy Clark’s commitment to the other teams

To be clear, this isn’t anything devastating for the other three programs. All three of them are used to targeting five-star prospects and will certainly land someone in the next 12 months nearly of Clark’s caliber. However, this is still a blow to lose him to Kentucky. Here’s where they each go from here.

Memphis Tigers

While the Tigers made the last cut, they weren’t ever truly into this one, which is fine by them since their real target is Jaden Hardy. He’s a top-5 overall combo guard prospect in the 2021 recruiting class and has been linked to both Memphis and Kentucky. Clark’s move and possible reclassification could benefit the Tigers in their quest to land Hardy.

North Carolina Tar Heels

The Tar Heels and Wildcats have been in multiple battles, with another one on the way in Hunter Sallis, a five-star combo guard ranked in the top-10 overall in the 2021 class. These two teams have been rumored frontrunners for his services and with Clark going to UK, Sallis may opt to go to UNC, where he would be the replacement for five-star freshman point guard Caleb Love. However, there is a possibility that Sallis also joins Clark at Kentucky, assuming there’s room.

UCLA Bruins

Of the three, the Bruins are in the least need of a ball-handler. They still have starter Tyger Campbell around for a couple more years, while already having top-50 commit Will McClendon part of the 2021 class. There’s also a chance UCLA can land top-30 class of 2022 point guard Dylan Andrews, who will be coming out with a top-8 list this weekend. Expect this program to be one of the top contenders for the Los Angeles native target.
