Mick Cronin gets his 1st 5-star recruit at UCLA
At times last season, the Bruins progress under 1st-year head coach Mick Cronin’s tenure looked completely out of sorts and dysfunctional. However, the team put all the pieces together to go on an insane run to end the season.
Now as preseason conference favorites heading into 2020 with the bulk of the roster returning things are looking very bright for UCLA. However, national signing day added to the positive sentiments surrounding the program with the signature of 5-star wing Peyton Watson.
Watson is the 2nd highest recruit Cronin has ever signed, behind Lance Stephenson, and only the 3rd 5-star prospect to ever sign with the tough defensive coach. It’s his first since becoming the head coach of the Bruins and further signals the overall direction of the program in years to come.
The addition of a top scoring threat to the roster is a piece UCLA was particularly missing last season, but will soon reinforce the team and its talented crops of sharpshooters on the wings.
