NCAA Basketball: Villanova, UConn and Rutgers among Corey Floyd Jr. top 8
Miami Hurricanes
Star guard Chris Lykes will be gone after this year. However, the Hurricanes already have landed multiple guards in the 2021 recruiting class, including Jakai Robinson and Bensley Joseph. Then there are current sophomore rotation guards Harlond Beverly and Isaiah Wong. All of them could be around by the 2022-23 campaign, making it a tough situation for Floyd Jr. to get any kind of immediate playing time.
Providence Friars
This team will be fine in the backcourt for the next couple of years, with David Duke and AJ Reeves currently juniors. St. Joe’s transfer Jared Bynum also is part of the rotation, along with freshman guard Alyn Breed. So far, they have no guard commits in the 2021 recruiting class, meaning that they’ll focus heavy on backcourt targets for the next year. This is an opportunity for this prospect to have a role early on when he arrives and being able to develop on a program on the rise in the Big East.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
With Seton Hall not part of the picture, this is an opportunity for the Knights to land one of the top in-state prospects available for the next couple of years. There’s a genuine need for new guards as well, with key players Geo Baker and Jacob both currently seniors on the roster. Rutgers does have current 2021 commits Jaden Jones and Jalen Miller, both ranked in the top-150 overall but it may be hard for Floyd Jr. passing up wanting to join a program that’s starting to break out finally.
