2. Gonzaga Bulldogs
Quick, stop me if you have heard this before. The Bulldogs are going to be in the hunt for a National Championship and will likely lead the country in scoring. That is what they have done for the last couple of seasons and last year Gonzaga averaged almost 90 points per game. The Bulldogs don’t need to prove their worth, but for all of the haters, they decided to bulk up the non-conference schedule to give them more quad one wins.
No one in the West Coast Conference is touching them this year. Head Coach Mark Few and his Gonzaga team are going to make the second weekend again, win 90% of their games again and lead the country in scoring.
The Bulldogs also have a player who is one of the frontrunners for the National Player of the Year and he may just win it in Drew Timme. Gonzaga runs away with the West Coast Title, stays in the top five all year, and earns another one seed.
1. Villanova Wildcats
Villanova is likely going to be the 2020-2021 National Champions. Jay Wright does it again he has built this roster with tall athletic guys who can all play defense and shoot from the outside. His offense is predicated on the three-point shot. The Wildcats never turn the ball over, never foul and they move the ball with the best of them.
There is so much to like with Villanova that even in a loaded Big East the Wildcats will still come out on top. They have a little bit of everything, they have a steady point guard in Collin Gillespie who doesn’t look like much but he can give you 20.
Villanova also has a do-everything player who just so happens to do those things at an NBA level in Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. Robinson-Earl had a great freshman year but he is going to be one of the biggest breakout stars of the year and is going to average a double-double with at least 15 points per game.
Villanova is number 1 for a reason they have it all, and they have a coach who has been there before. Pick the Wildcats to be big things this year.
