NCAA Basketball: Luka Garza, Drew Timme among top-10 POY contenders
10. Remy Martin | 6’0 Point Guard | Arizona State Sun Devils
The Arizona State Sun Devils are 3-1 on the season with a nine-point loss to then-No. 3 ranked Villanova and it should prepare point guard Remy Martin and company for what’s to come.
Martin enters his senior as a two-time All Pac-12 Conference honoree as well as the 2017-18 Sixth Man of the Year back when he was a freshman. He’s the floor leader for Arizona State that plays with energy on both ends.
He’s averaging 17.3 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game through the Sun Devils’ first four games of the season. He’s a quick playmaker that can score in the paint and get to the free throw line. He’s averaging 5.0 free throw makes and 6.0 attempts per game in 2020-21.
This season, Martin has reliable counterparts in the rotation in freshmen Josh Christopher and Marcus Bagley as well. Christopher is posting a team-high 17.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest and has quite the floor game to go along with his athleticism at 6-foot-5.
Bagley is posting 13.0 points per game, fourth on the team, along with 5.8 rebounds per contest. He’s a 6-foot-8 forward and the brother of former Duke star Marcus Bagley III.
Martin is a senior leader with some weapons to fine-tune during Pac12 action and if they come out as winners, look for him to come out as a hot name on the national scene.
