5. Pepperdine

Pepperdine has got off to a 2-1 start after losing a close one to UCLA in Triple Overtime. The Waves were picked 4th in the WCC preseason poll. They are lead by two NBA draft prospects in Colby Ross (24.0) PPG and Kessler Edwards (18.3) PPG.

For the Waves to outperform their preseason rankings. They will need to improve their defense witch according to Kenpom ranks 144th in the country.

6. Loyola Marymount

The Lions are 2-2 under first-year coach Stan Johnson. All WCC 2nd-teamer Eli Scott (11.0 PPG, 10.0 RPG) returns along with Mattias Markusson who sat out last year. But the leading scorer for the Lions so far is Joe Quintana (13.5 PPG) who only played one game the year before. Loyola Marymount needs several players to improve if they look to outperform last year’s 8th place finish.

7. Santa Clara

Santa Clara is 4-0 after their first few games of the season. The Broncos won their last game 53-47 over Cal State Bakersfield. Senior, Josip Vrankic has been the top scorer with (18.8 )PPG. Keshawn Justice (9.0) PPG (7.0) RPG and Jaden Bediako (8.3) PPG and (9.8) RPG. The toughest game on Santa Clara’s non-conference schedule is a 12/15 battle at Boise State.
