8. Pacific
Pacific is 2-1 this season after an impressive season last year where they finished 3rd in the WCC lose key contributor Jahlil Tripp. The Tigers are known for playing a lot of guys double-digit minutes currently are playing nine guys 10+ minutes.
The two leading scorers so far are Jeremiah Bailey and Daniss Jenkins. For Pacific to exceed their 8th place WCC preseason prediction. They are going to need to improve their 26% three-point shooting. The Tigers have only had 4 players make a three-pointer this season.
9. San Diego
With all three games canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. San Diego is yet to play a game during this young season. The Toreros were picked Ninth out of Ten teams in the WCC Preseason Polls. There returning leading scorer is Joey Calcaterra with 11.4 points per game. They also add transfer Ben Pyle from Western Illinois who averaged 12.3 PPG last year.
10. Portland
Portland has started it’s season 3-1 with victories over two NAIA opponents and Portland State. Ahmed Ali (20.2 PPG) a transfer who sat out last year due to a heart issue is the leading scorer for the Pilots.
The only other scorer in double figures is Junior College Transfer Eddie Davis (11.2 PPG). Portland who is ranked 279th in Kenpom, has finished last in the conference the last two years and won a total of one conference game.
