Hunter Dickinson was out to prove himself against Maryland basketball

It’s no secret that Dickinson was salty that Maryland didn’t recruit him enough to play there. He took it out on them in the paint. He scored 11 of the Wolverines 20 points in the paint and looked at the Terps bench every time he scored.

Maryland basketball did a good job of containing him coming out of half time. Galin Smith blocked his shot and Scott swiped the ball away from him causing the Wolverines to change who they handed the ball to on the same possession. On the defensive end, Ayala managed to get a layup over him under the basket.

Outside of those efforts, Dickinson was unstoppable. He talks and backs it up on the court.

Maryland’s three-point shooting didn’t get the job done

It’s a cliché nowadays but it’s so true. You live or die by the three-point shot. Maryland was living well as they finished the first half 9-of-11 (82 percent) from the perimeter. This was in large part due to Hamilton and Scott. There were multiple times where Hamilton was left open to take shots. Why? Who knows? Scott picked and chose when he took those shots and they fell.

In the second half, they shot a pedestrian 36 percent from the three-point line and 44 percent from the field. Michigan was able to stifle the Terps offensive output and feast on them defensively.
