Maryland Basketball: Takeaways from B1G home loss to No. 16 Michigan
Michigan won the rebounding and assisting battles. They won the game too
In the second half, the Wolverines put on a passing clinic. Whether it was perimeter passing or pick and roll play, the Wolverines got everything they wanted, and Mike Smith led the way with his court vision. He had six assists to go along with 16 points and six rebounds. The Wolverines owned the paint and outscored the Terps 42-22 and had a 15-14 assist advantage.
The Wolverines outrebounded the Terps 29-23 and it was clear that they were the better team as the game went on. The Terps were without their senior leader and defensive stopper Darryl Morsell who took an elbow to the face from Wagner.
That will be a storyline moving forward if he has to miss extended time. Even if he were healthy, it wouldn’t have made a difference. Michigan is another machine and as Dan Dakich said on the call tonight, if you’re sleeping on Michigan, wake up!
The Terps will begin 2021 on the road playing the Indiana Hoosiers Monday at 8 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. The Wolverines will be home Sunday to play the No. 19 Northwestern Wildcats at 7.30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
