Terps don’t have a B1G Forward, Garza dominates as a result

Maryland basketball has struggled big time trying to guard some of the best big men in the Big Ten. Garza was just the latest. They’ve had to go up against Hunter Dickinson, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Garza and have Kofi Cockburn and Giorgi Bezhanishvili next week. Yikes.

After this game, Terps Head Coach Mark Turgeon said that the Terps had no post presence and Chol Marial isn’t the answer. He didn’t see time on the floor.

Let’s take things back to the offseason for a moment. They lost out on transfers Jordan Bruner (Alabama), Both Gach (Minnesota), and they could’ve had Dickinson on their roster, who is tearing it up at Michigan.

Jairus Hamilton and Galin Smith have done a good job. I’m not saying they’re scrubs. They have made plays scoring in the paint, knocking down shots on the perimeter, and rebounding the ball. Donta Scott has been a highlight reel for the team. They don’t have a perennial playmaker that other teams have in the conference.

Their frontcourt is the weakest link of the team, and it showed again Thursday. They were outscored 44-16 in the paint.
