Pac-12 Basketball: Oregon, UCLA continues to stay on top of power rankings
10. Oregon State Beavers
The Oregon State Beavers are 10th in my power rankings and 8th currently in the conference. The Beavers are on a COVID 19 break and have had their last two games postponed. The Beavs are 1-2 in league play and 5-4 overall. Ethan Thompson has had a good year for the Beavs scoring 16.3 points a game is their best player and number one option on their scouting report.
Jarod Lucas is the only other player in double figures with 12.3 points per game and is shooting 34% from the field. Transfer, Warith Alatishe who is averaging 9.7 points and 8.9 rebounds a game is a transfer from Nicholls State has been a nice player. Zach Reichle a senior, has had some good moments. But there really isn’t a whole lot there on the rest of the roster.
The Beavers have been on a downhill the last couple of years after ranking 81st in Kenpom in 2019 they ranked 87th last year and 136th this season. Their defense has really struggled the last couple of years specifically. In the last three years, the Beavers defense has ranked in the 150s and 160s.
The Beavers along with Cal and UW are in the same tier for me. These teams are pretty set to be 10-12th I don’t think they necessarily have the talent to move their way up the rankings. The Beavers play hard and Wayne Tickle is a good offense of coach, so they always have had a pretty good offense, so I think they are kind of stuck to the 10th or 11th spot.
