12. Miami Hurricanes (6-7, 2-6)

It’s unfair to judge Miami this season considering the massive amount of injuries but that’s literally all we have seen from them. Still, they remain a threat to upset anyone in the ACC, including their big win last Saturday over Louisville. Sophomore Isaiah Wong had a career-high 30 points, while Matt Cross had 16 off the bench. This was without their two best players (Chris Lykes and Kameron McGusty) by the way.

Wong had become an All-ACC player this season, averaging 17.5 ppg and 5.8 rpg. If they can get Lykes and McGusty back along with Earl Timberlake already being back, this can be a scary team for the rest of the ACC to deal with. Despite the injuries, they’ve been competitive most of the time and could rise up the standings soon enough, with upcoming bouts against Wake Forest and Notre Dame.

11. Syracuse Orange (8-4, 2-3)

The Orange got a bit of momentum this week with an 83-57 thumping over Miami, led by 23 points each from Buddy Boeheim and Joe Girard III. But it still doesn’t take away the stink from giving up 96 points to the Pittsburgh Panthers a week ago in their own 20-point drubbing defeat.

Right now, they need to start getting meaningful wins, as they only have Miami and Georgetown as their best victories. But Syracuse will have back-to-back major opportunities in the next seven days, taking on ranked foes, Virginia Tech and Virginia. We’ll have an even better look as to how good this Orange team really is.
