Oregon Ducks – Eugene Omoruyi
The Oregon Ducks are currently 9-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play. The Ducks are coming off a loss against Washington State where they were without Eric Williams and their best player Chris Durate got hurt. They have had two separate pauses due to COVID-19 protocols and have had to have their last three games canceled as well.
The Ducks have been without one of their key players Will Richardson, the whole season due until the WSU game because of a left thumb injury. Center N’Faly Dante is also out for the year due to a torn ACL. But, good news for Oregon Richardson is supposed to come back soon. A player that needs to be talked about more is Eugene Omoruyi a transfer forward from Rutgers.
Omoruyi sat out last year due to NCAA transfer rules. He is the 2nd leading scorer on the Ducks at 17.1 points per game which is up from his last season at Rutgers where he averaged 13.8 points a game. His field goal percentage is also up as well shooting 46.3 percent up from 44.5 percent.
At 6’6 235 with a capable three-point shot, Omoruyi can score in multiple different ways which helps put pressure on the defense. He’s really tough, extremely strong, and able to finish through contact. Oregon is a good team that has been beaten up. When they get healthy I think you can expect them to go on a run of games. Omoruyi is a guy you should be paying attention to.
