Unlikely Contributions

A big part of Georgia’s upset win over Missouri was the contributions that Tom Crean got from some of his bench players, in particular sophomore guard Jaxon Etter.

Etter played a big role in the Bulldogs’ late run in narrowing the deficit to two points while he was on the court. This included drawing a charge, a steal, 4 points, and then Etter hit a massive 3-pointer from the corner that cut the Missouri lead to two points. Etter finished the game with nine points, two rebounds, and two steals in 18 minutes played, while not missing a shot the entire game.

The Bulldogs also received a big performance from senior forward Andrew Garcia. Garcia added 13 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one block in the Bulldogs victory, and will need Garcia to play like this going forward.

Georgia also got better defensive play in this game. The Bulldogs are allowing 77.4 PPG, and currently rank 134th in KenPom defensive rankings. Georgia has struggled on the defensive end this season, and this was a step in the right direction for Tom Crean’s Bulldogs.
