Colorado

Just like our late-night college basketball viewing is stolen away by the Pac-12, so also is our final focus on that west coast conference. The Pac-12 has been a struggle in recent years and this season may be no different, even if it is more competitive. That being said, there’s still reason to believe the conference will get a few NCAA Tournament teams and Colorado will certainly be on that list.

The Buffaloes got a pair of huge home wins this week that will greatly help build their resume. On Thursday, they scored an 18-point win over #19 USC, getting 24 points from Jeriah Horne. The impressive week concluded on Saturday with a nice win over UCLA, with a 26-point effort from McKinley Wright IV leading the show this time.

Colorado has run their record to 19-7 with these two wins. That 13-6 mark in conference play, including wins over two of the teams still above them, has them sitting pretty in fourth place in the league. They now have two wins over USC and also knocked off Oregon earlier in conference play. Nonconference allowed them few opportunities but they’ve done well enough these past few months.

Disappointing losses to California and Utah hurt the resume a bit, and only a game with Arizona State remains before the conference tournament. Colorado is also in the top 20 in the NET rankings and that’ll certainly help their cause with the Selection Committee. Heck, if they can get hot these next few weeks, they could earn themselves an even better seed in March.

We’ve closely examined eleven winners from this past week. We still have two more weeks before the NCAA Tournament and there’s still time for plenty to change in the college basketball world. Who will shine next week?
