Michigan State on the Bubble

If you thought Sparty had no chance of making the NCAA Tournament this season, think again.

After disappointing so far this season not looking like a normal Tom Izzo Michigan State team, the Spartans now sit at 13-9 overall and 7-9 in the Big Ten after picking up two victories over Top 5 ranked teams this week.

The Spartans started the week with an 81-72 victory over #5 Illinois and ended the week with a 71-67 victory over #4 Ohio State. When the Spartans needed them most, Michigan State turned to experienced players Aaron Henry and Joshua Langford as they combined for 59 points and 30 rebounds in these two games that may have saved the Spartans NCAA Tournament hopes.

Michigan State is now firmly on the Bubble according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi and is listed in the First Four Out group in the latest Bracketology update. If Michigan State wants to make the NCAA Tournament, plenty of chances still sit right in front of the Spartans as they will face Maryland, Indiana, and #3 Michigan twice before the Big Ten Tournament.
