Baylor Bears

This season’s team has undoubtedly been led by the elite trio of guards in Jared Butler, MaCio Teague, and Davion Mitchell. Depending on what happens, there’s a real chance that all three players will depart for the pros this offseason. They also are set to lose valuable senior forward Mark Vital, who does a bit of everything for the team in the frontcourt.

Among the likely returning big men for Baylor are Flo Thamba and Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua, who are solid rotational pieces but not great offensive players. So unless the coaching staff thinks current freshman Zach Loveday and Dain Dainja are ready for big minutes next season, they may be in the market for an offensively-talented center. And for Mitchell, he would be joining a top-15 team very likely to make noise again in the NCAA Tournament, while showcasing his skills in front of scouts more often.

Boston College Eagles

The program has found a new head coach in Earl Grant from College of Charleston, who recently has made multiple trips to the NCAA Tournament. He’ll be tasked with rebuilding a roster that could lose its entire frontcourt rotation (all currently are seniors), as well as guard Wynston Tabbs who has already transferred.

The obvious connection in this potential match is that Mitchell wouldn’t have to travel far at all from where he and his family currently reside in Massachusetts. He’d be able to play for an ACC program and be the featured player in the offense while staying close to home.
