Illinois Fighting Illini

It’s going to be difficult to replace the massive amount of production of Kofi Cockburn (assuming he goes pro this season) but Mitchell gives Illinois that opportunity. Outside of forward Giorgi Bezhanishvili, the team doesn’t have much, and even with the likely return of guards Andre Curbelo and Adam Miller, still needs to find a frontcourt player to throw the ball down to.

After missing out on West Virginia transfer Oscar Tshiebwe a couple of months ago, Illinois should be using its top-tier status right now to land some impact transfers. Mitchell would be a great get to keep things going for the next year, regardless of who they lose this offseason.

Ohio State Buckeyes

I’ll put an asterisk for this one if the Buckeyes can land five-star center prospect Efton Reid. They’re viewed as a real contender to land him but if not, will need to find a center this offseason. Freshman big Zed Key is a solid player but I’m not sure he’ll be a big offensive weapon as a sophomore.

With EJ Lidell possibly going pro and Kyle Young currently a senior, Ohio State would be a great potential option for Mitchell. He’d fit their system on both ends and could be a star in the Big Ten. With some elite centers like Cockburn and Luka Garza set to leave, the Buckeyes could get a great advantage in the frontcourt for 2021-22.
