Wichita State Shockers

Despite the season-ending loss in the First Four of the NCAA Tournament, it was a phenomenal year for first-year head coach Isaac Brown. Now that the interim tag has been lifted for Brown, it would be a phenomenal move to land the Duke transfer.

The Shockers will return a wealth of talent in their backcourt headlined by leading scorer Tyson Etienne, as well as Dexter Dennis and Ricky Council IV. Wichita State would return over 30+ PPG with this group but could use Goldwire elsewhere.

While this group should already be one of the best in the AAC, an addition of Goldwire would help improve a defense that ranked 84th in the country last season. Goldwire wouldn’t necessarily put up the same offensive numbers as the others, but his defense could help put Wichita State over the top in the AAC next season.

The Shockers should be talented once again in 2021-22, and the potential addition of Goldwire only adds to it. If there is a team that could be considered as a potential favorite due to the fit along with talent, it’s the Shockers.

Whichever team lands Goldwire will not only be getting a player that could potentially break out offensively but one of the best pure defenders in all of college basketball. If I had to guess who lands the Duke transfer as well, I’d say he ends up at either BYU, Texas Tech, or Wichita State.
