Michigan State Basketball: Top 7 transfer options for Spartans to consider
By Ryan Kay
Marcus Carr
Info: Player Profile
Eligibility: Carr may not be immediately eligible as a senior for this upcoming season due to him having already transferred from Pitt to Minnesota but he could apply for a waiver and be granted immediate eligibility. He also may graduate and become a graduate transfer and be immediately eligible as well.
His Strengths: He played very well last season being named All-Big Ten First Team by the Associated Press and averaging over 19 points a game this past season. He not only can score but he has never averaged less than four assists a game and average almost one and a half steals last season. He scored 24 or more points eight times last season and he has great ball-handling skills. He attacks the rim and is an all-around playmaker on offense.
Why Michigan State needs him: Many schools would love to have Carr and Michigan State fans are no different as Carr helped the Gophers defeat the Spartans by 25 points last season. Carr potentially has until the July 7th deadline to withdraw from the NBA draft so Spartan fans and other fans around the country may have to wait a while to see what Carr decides for his future.
Michigan State fans have had a rough offseason when initial recruits who committed to Izzo and the Spartans in Enoch Boakye and more recently the devasting announcement that Emoni Bates de-committed has left the Spartans with no 2022 commitments. Henry, the best overall player for the Spartans has decided to enter the NBA draft instead of coming back for his senior season and Michigan State’s best leader on and off the court in Langford decided to not play next season for the green and white.
The only good off-season news was the announcement that Tyson Walker transferred to Michigan State. However, if two of the seven listed possible transfers end up transferring to become a Spartan, the entire 2021-22 outlook on the season will change.
