NCAA Basketball: Analyzing top 8 teams for four-star 2022 wing Tyrell Ward
Indiana Hoosiers
The Hoosiers have a ton of seniors on next year’s roster, along with star forward Trayce Jackson-Davis. So there will be a ton of open roster space for 2022 targets such as Ward, who could very well be the ideal replacement for Northwestern transfer Miller Kopp.
Indiana has plenty of prestige and history and remains a favorable option for any regional prospects. As long as new head coach Mike Woodson can prove that he can coach and recruit well at the NCAA Basketball level, he’ll get plenty of top-100 talent. Whether Ward wants to be one of the first to sign on is the question in this recruitment.
LSU Tigers
After losing the team’s top five contributors from this past season, the Tigers did a good job landing both transfers and top-100 talent in the past month. They were mainly guards and centers, with San Jose State transfer wing Seneca Knight the only one that plays the same position as Ward.
However, there are a pair of incoming wings for LSU that would give Ward plenty of competition for playing time. Alex Fudge is a former top-100 prospect, while Devin Ree is a top-60 overall recruit already committed in the 2022 class. That doesn’t even include future potential transfers a year from now or other highly-talented players the team can add. There isn’t a clear pathway for Ward here compared to other options.
