Virginia Cavaliers

The hometown option Cavaliers sure could use Taylor for the upcoming season, now that starting wing Trey Murphy is off to the pros. There’s room now without question for a talent like Taylor to come in and have an impact, joining four-star guard Issac McKneely in the 2022 class.

There are plenty of pros and few cons, unless the concern about playing time and being recruited over by a future transfer comes into play. Not all freshmen players get minutes in Coach Tony Bennett’s system, particuarally those that struggle on the defensive end. If Taylor doesn’t play defense well then things may not go well here.

Virginia Tech Hokies

The Hokies have been using three-guard lineups for the past couple of years, with Tyrece Radford and Nahiem Alleyne playing all the minutes there. Radford’s rebounding and Alleyne’s 41% three-point shooting gives the team options but with both somewhat undersized at the three-spot, that caues issues on the defensive end.

At 6’6, Taylor would be an ideal option to play at wing against bigger opponents, while his shooting would help the other guards on the court. Virginia Tech is another local option to consider and while there are plenty of non-senior guards on the roster, Taylor’s size would still give him a great shot at early minutes. And if his offense excels, he could end up being a focal point sooner than later.
