NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing 2022 3-star Robert Jennings final 6 teams
SMU Mustangs
“I love how Coach (Tim) Jankovich has built his program and the way he has developed players like myself and put them in the best position to be successful at the next level.”
The Mustangs are the hometown school for Jennings. SMU is 105-55 under Jankovich, but the Mustangs, who posted an 11-6 record last year, have not been to the NCAA Tournament since 2016-17. Five players have reached the NBA since Jankovich has been at the Dallas school. SMU will need some help in the frontcourt with Franklin Agunane, a transfer from Loyola, being the lone scholarship player currently slated to be on the roster next year. They offered him on Feb. 18.
Texas A&M Aggies
“Coach Rocc (Assistant Steve Roccaforte) and I have been working on our relationship for a long time. I really enjoyed the visit meeting all the staff made me feel at home.”
The Aggies officially offered him a couple of days after SMU (Feb. 20). The Aggies struggled last year, going 8-10 overall and 2-8 in the SEC, marking the first time that they finished under .500 since moving from the Big 12. TAM does need to add depth in frontcourt, with Arkansas transfer Ethan Henderson, 2021 incoming 3-star freshman Ashton Smith and former UConn transfer Javonte Brown being the only frontcourt players on scholarship in 2022.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
“I have really enjoyed the relationship me and assistant coach Talvin Hester have built since the beginning.”
Chris Beard has revived the Red Raider program since coming on board prior to the 2015 campaign. Beard is 112-55 and has led TTU to at least 18 victories in each of his five seasons as well as three NCAA Tournaments, including a Final Four in 2019. Oral Roberts transfer Kevin Obanor and Arizona transfer Daniel Batcho are the only two “bigs” that are slated to return for the Red Raiders next season.
