2. Houston Cougars

A Final Four appearance last season was a huge step forward for this Houston program. Head coach Kellen Sampson has done an excellent job building the roster and consistently developing his players to produce at the highest levels. The Cougars not only had a shot at the national title last season but were also a top-6 offensive and defensive unit for the cherry on top. The program has been built on backcourt talent with length, versatility on both ends, and toughness.

All of these traits embody what Arceneaux brings to the table. Houston has repeatedly stocked its cupboards with guards and while that may prevent immediate playing time on the court in most cases, it isn’t an issue for Arceneaux. He stated in an interview with Brandon Jenkins of 247sports.com;

"“I do not have to start. I want to win my starting spot and feel comfortable with the coaching staff. I want to know the team is able to win and help develop me to get to the NBA.”"

The Cougars have landed a quartet of players in the NBA in the last 3 seasons alone.

To add to enticement to play for the University of Houston is their campus is even closer to Arceneaux’s hometown than any other program on his list.

1. Texas A&M Aggies

Buzz Williams has not been able to get the Aggies much momentum entering his 3rd year in College Station. There has been a revolving door of players coming and going from the program since he arrived and there has not been a consistent style for Texas A&M to work with from season to season. However, recent offseason additions of Henry Coleman (Duke) and Marcus Williams (Wyoming) will hopefully begin to change that.

Yet, the Aggies are noticeably missing a consistent threat on the wings. Veteran presence Savion Flagg has departed the roster and the backcourt remains inexperienced, to put it mildly. Adding a piece like Arceneaux feeds into fixing that problem and significantly increasing the offensive productive potential for the Aggies on a nightly basis. It also falls right into Coach Williams tendencies for a disciplined and suffocating defensive approach to winning games.

Texas A&M is also relatively close to Arceneaux’s hometown where his friends and family would be able to watch games year in and year out.
