Texas Longhorns

As the “hometown” option, Wallace could stay in the state and for a program with incredible momentum, as head coach Chris Beard landed everyone it seems this offseason. That includes senior guard Marcus Carr, who will be gone after next season, along with Andrew Jones and Courtney Ramey. That leaves Kentucky transfer Devin Askew and four-star commit Arterio Morris.

While Texas could certainly land another transfer or two next offseason in the backcourt, this is a place where Wallace can have major minutes and be the focal point of the offense, while being able to stay locally and get to play in the Big 12.

Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners

The Roadrunners have gone 79-79 in the past five years and haven’t been close to making the NCAA Tournament. But a player like Wallace could singlehandedly have them in contention in Conference USA. And head coach Steve Henson has a good history of letting his guards shine offensive, including Cason’s brother Keaton Wallace and Jhivvan Jackson, one of the best scoring duos in the country of the past four years.

Next. Player milestones to watch for 2021-22 season. dark

Of course, Wallace is going to struggle without landing someone else alongside him and that’s unlikely. So if he’s willing to play for a team not likely to make the postseason but gets to play 35+ minutes as the lead guard, maybe the Roadrunners will have a legit shot here. Otherwise, it’s a three-team race for the five-star prospect.
