Kentucky Wildcats

There’s a lot of momentum right now for the Wildcats on the recruiting trail. They’re reportedly in the lead for No. 1 overall prospect and shooting guard Shaedon Sharpe, along with five-star targets, Chris Livingston, Adem Bona, and even Dereck Lively Jr. Wallace could potentially be joining a mega recruiting class and be a top-tier preseason team for the year after.

The thing that Wallace would have to consider is that he may not start at Kentucky. The team already has top-10 overall combo guard prospect Skyy Clark committed and if Sharpe joins, would certainly start as well. And that doesn’t even include Georgia transfer and SEC passing leader Sahvir Wheeler, who has as many as three years of eligibility left. If he departs after next season though, I could see a three-lineup lineup in 2022-23 to get Wallace on the court more to make everyone happy.

Tennessee Volunteers

Not all teams and coaches can do well with combo guards. But Tennessee and head coach Rick Barnes did well with freshmen Keon Johnson and Jaden Springer, both of whom ended up getting drafted this Summer. Replacing them is five-star freshman Kennedy Chandler and Auburn transfer Justin Powell.

Between them, Chandler is more likely to be gone after next season, and although they have four-star point guard commit BJ Edwards part of the 2022 class, Wallace can come in and be the lead guard and get to be on ball more than he likely would at Kentucky depending on their roster. Plus, if five-star big man Brandon Huntley-Hatfield comes back for another year, this could be a preseason top-10 team for the following season.
