Point Guard

Rasir Bolton and Andrew Nembhard are the two leading names to take on point guard duties for Gonzaga basketball in 2021-22. Nembhard did most of his work as a reserve in 2020-21 with 16 starts across 32 appearances, averaging 9.2 ppg, 4.4 apg, 2.4 rpg, and 1.1 spg in 29.9 minutes of action.

With so much talent on the roster in 2020-21, Nembhard played a solid role and even earned the WCC Sixth Man of the Year award and could find himself bidding for the award once again in 2021-22.

It wouldn’t be entirely a surprise if he came off the bench once again and gave way to Bolton. Although the Bulldogs will be his third destination in four seasons, he’s still a proven stat-sheet stuffer that earned All-Big 12 third-team honors with Iowa State basketball in 2020-21.

He produced 15.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.9 apg, and 1.3 spg and certainly brings a similar “Jalen Suggs” type of vibe to the Gonzaga rotation with his athleticism and shooting, and playmaking ability. He’s a lot more active on defense, though.

With Bolton and Nembhard though, the point guard spot should be in more than good hands as Gonzaga looks to dominate once again.
