Projected starting lineup

Point Guard – Xavier Pinson, Junior

Xavier Pinson joins the LSU basketball rotation out of the transfer portal from Missouri and looks to boost the lead guard role without Adam Miller in the rotation due to injury. Pinson posted 13.6 ppg, 2.9 apg, 2.7 rpg, and 1.1 spg in 2020-21 in the Missouri backcourt.

He’s a creator and playmaker with a ton of starting experience already and shouldn’t have to adjust much to get on the floor for LSU basketball. He’s a 6-foot-2 guard that should change their trajectory with his ability to play on all three levels.

Guard – Brandon Murray, Frosh.

Brandon Murray is a newcomer to the Tigers rotation after spending his final prep season with IMG Academy where he excelled with now current teammate, Efton Reid. Murray is a strong combo guard that can attack the rim and handle the ball, making him equally useful for Coach Wade at 6-foot-5.

He developed nicely as a two-way threat in his final year at IMG Academy and found his landing spot with the Tigers in the SEC. He’ll turn some heads given what he can do as a strong, athlete.

Wing/Guard – Mwani Wilkinson, Soph.

Mwani Wilkinson is one of two returning starters in the 2021-22 frontcourt for LSU basketball. He’s a 6-foot-5 versatile prospect that fared decently in 2020-21 across 27 appearances, making 14 starts.

Wilkinson averaged 3.6 ppg and 2.7 rpg across 17.0 minutes per contest this past season. With a bigger role on the horizon, Wilkinson is one prospect that should see an uptick in minutes after gaining some experience this past year.

Forward – Darius Days, Junior

Darius Days returns to the LSU basketball rotation looking to lead the way as their primary option on the offensive end of the ball. As the Tigers look to rebuild, he’s their leading rebounder (7.8 rpg) and scorer (11.6 ppg) from a season ago.

Days is a 6-foot-7 forward that can use his length to be a threat on the interior and step out to the perimeter to knock down shots as well. He shot 40 percent from 3-point range and 51.9 percent from the field this past year as he looks to build on his production.

Center – Efton Reid, Frosh.

Efton Reid missed their exhibition contest against Nicholls but he should be healthy for their opener against ULM on Nov. 9. He’s a highly-rated big man out of IMG Academy that played alongside Benny Williams (Syracuse) and current teammate Brandon Murray.

Reid is a mobile big man at 6-foot-11 that can affect the game in a variety of ways with his size and length. He’s got an opportunity to make quite the presence in the frontcourt alongside Darius Days.
