Former NBA players, current college coaches

There are a number of former NBA players who had more success over their professional careers in comparison to their success in their NCAA coaching careers. Some are winning, some are losing, some are even winning despite not looking impressive, they all are going to have increasingly tougher times when conference play begins.

Hubert Davis and North Carolina had the toughest time stopping anybody from scoring and are now established as a team that will not be contending for an ACC title, let alone a national title. Surrendering 93 to Purdue and 89 to Tennesse over the weekend of week 2 would not be terribly concerning if they did not surrender 83 points to the College of Charleston and 87 points to Brown.

The week ended off well enough for Jerry Stackhouse and the Vanderbilt Commodores by defeating a top 200 team in Winthrop, but it started off poorly when they lost 47-38 to VCU. In the same manner that the Commodores bounced back after a bad game in week 2, they are hoping for a similar bounce back after finishing fourteenth in the SEC last season with just three victories.

Juwan Howard and National Title contender Michigan had a difficult week 2 as well. Their 74-61 victory over UNLV was sandwiched between two losses against arguably the two most underrated teams in the Arizona Wildcats and the Seton Hall Pirates.
