Better than MNF and TNF

While millions were watching Tom Brady throw 307 passing yards and two touchdowns to lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 30 – 10 victory of the New York Giants they were missing the second half of Lafayette upsetting Rutgers 53-51.

Rutgers have looked anything but impressive this season, having lost the previous game to undefeated DePaul, but the outcome of the game does not discount the journey, especially if one is a Lafayette fan. When Kyle Jenkins hit a three-pointer to put Lafayette up two points with two seconds remaining, it marked the seventeenth lead change of the game.

The same can be said for the sports fans tuning in to see the Buffalo Bills defeat the New Orleans Saints 31-6 on Thursday night, in lieu of watching the second half of Maryland and Richmond. In their 86-80 victory Maryland scored 54 points in the second half, a half that contributed to Hakim Hart scoring 26 points and Eric Ayala scoring 20 points for the Terrapins. While the Bills were extending their 10-0 halftime lead, the Terrapins were connecting on 7-13 of three-pointers.

Another match-up, this one between mid-majors who are worth watching was also overshadowing Thursday Night Football as Belmont and Drake attacked the basketball all night as they combined for a total of 76 points in the paint in the 75-69 victory by Belmont. Nick Muszynski shot 12-17 to score 31 points for Belmont in front of a hostile crowd, who had no choice but to appreciate the performance.
