Defense played big role in Indiana’s win

As mentioned before, Ohio State only scored 51 points in today’s game. Indiana was able to hold leading scorer E.J Liddell to only 11 points on 33 percent shooting. On the season, Liddell averages 19 points per game. Indiana was able to hold Ohio State’s next two leading scorers (Kyle Young, and Zed Key) to a combined five points.  Both of those players combined average 20 points per game on the season.

Overall, Ohio State was well under their scoring average of 76 points per game. Indiana was really able to apply the defensive pressure in the second half as Ohio State would shoot 6 of 23 from the floor. Additionally, Indiana only allowed 21 points in the second half. Indiana was really great at defending inside three-point line in the second half, as Ohio State only made one shot from inside the three-point line.

Ohio State shot 11 percent from inside the three-point line in the second half. Indiana was so dominant on defense that Ohio State was unable to score for multiple blocks of game time.  Indiana was able to generate seven steals in this game.

Trey Galloway had two of those seven steals in this game. His return from injury in today’s game is my third and final takeaway from this game.
