24. Seton Hall (12-5)

The Big East has eleven teams and it’s fair to say that more than half of them have a legitimate shot at making an impact in the NCAA Tournament. Seton Hall was one of those teams that got the season off to a great start, with nice early wins over Michigan and Texas helping set up their success. Their play since the conference season began has been less ideal, but things could be turning around.

This past week, the Pirates got back onto the court and got back into the winning column, holding on for a 66-60 win on the road at St. John’s. They put together their best defensive effort in league play and got an important road victory, led by 21 points from Myles Cale. The Pirates may be just 3-4 in Big East play, but have already played five conference road games, meaning there are easier days ahead on their schedule.

Honestly, the analytics aren’t a fan of this Seton Hall team, but they’ve shown, even recently that they’re a team that can cause damage. Seton Hall will get plenty of chances in the coming weeks to prove they belong in these rankings, but if their defense can get this team back on track, they could truly be a team to watch down the stretch. Next week brings winnable home games over St. John’s and Marquette, two wins they desperately need to get back above .500 in league play.
