25. Boise State (17-4)

When the season began, there were a number of different teams that were expected to compete for the Mountain West title. There was a lot of talent or experience at Colorado State, San Diego State, and Nevada, but that’s not the team that’s grabbed the MWC by the horns. These Broncos certainly didn’t look like that type with four losses back in November, but the times sure have changed.

This past week was even more proof of that for the Broncos, starting with an impressive 65-62 win over Wyoming on Tuesday. Abu Kigab put up 18 points as Boise State handed the Cowboys their first MWC loss of the season. Three days later, the Broncos had a trickier outing, winning a 68-63 overtime road game at Fresno State, surviving thanks to 16 points from Emmanuel Akot and a strong effort from the defense.

Without a doubt, Boise State is playing like the best team in the MWC, and one of the best mid-majors in the country. Not only are they 8-0 in league play, but their current 14 game winning streak includes wins away from home against Washington State, Nevada, Utah State, and San Diego State. Boise State is trending in a fantastic direction but has another big challenge next week, getting a quick rematch on the road at Wyoming.
