Bracketology 2022: Baylor, Memphis, North Carolina among latest winners

Villanova
Since the Big East restructured back in 2013, Villanova has taken complete control, winning most of the conference championships and that pair of national titles as well. This season, they couldn’t quite take the regular-season title, thanks to the resurgence of Providence, but they’ve done the next best thing. After a huge road win at Providence three weeks ago, the Wildcats completed the season sweep with a 2-point victory over the Friars this past week. A road win at Butler on Saturday completed their regular season, giving them a 16-4 record in the Big East.
These recent wins over Providence are key for the resume, and Villanova is certainly moving up the seedlines. A Big East Tournament title could put the Wildcats in great position for a 2-seed, but this week alone certainly puts them in that conversation. The Wildcats couldn’t win the regular-season title, and have lost some unfortunate games this year, but they are playing great offensive basketball in recent weeks and look like a team that could cause damage in March.
TCU
The Big 12 is very good and very deep this season and TCU is the perfect example of that. The Horned Frogs are 19-11, with an 8-10 conference record, but because they play in the Big 12 they might just be an NCAA Tournament team. If anything, they cemented that bid this week with a double-digit home win over Kansas, nearly repeating the feat two days later, losing a tough road game to the Jayhawks. Even when you factor in a loss to West Virginia on Saturday, you have a TCU team that has shown they can win big games.
The Horned Frogs have wins over Texas Tech and Kansas in the last ten days and several other victories that look good on the resume. However, this Kansas win might have been the punctuation mark; the thing that guarantees that the Horned Frogs will be part of a deep Big 12 in the NCAA Tournament. Nobody expected this team to win this league or compete with the Baylor’s and Kansas’s of the world, but they’ve done enough to be one of 68.
