Arizona State Sun Devils

One of the assistants that were at Kentucky during the initial recruitment of Clark was Joel Justus, who went to Arizona State last offseason. So that connection likely would put the Sun Devils in the mix, at least in the early stages. And look, it’s not like they can’t use a quality point guard for next year, considering how much they have struggled in 2021-22 (14-16, 10-10).

ASU will need to replace 5th-year senior Marreon Jackson at the point guard position but they do have a top-100 incoming freshman commit in Austin Nunez. But Nunez isn’t good enough to change the team’s fortunes on his own so if you’re Arizona State, you have to at least try to get someone like Clark. Of course, this is assuming that head coach Bobby Hurley is coming back for another season.

Gonzaga Bulldogs

The Bulldogs were after Clark in the first go-around and they were able to get a former Kentucky commit in Nolan Hickman to pick them after he de-committed. Clark would be a good fit for the offense and would be a nice replacement for the departing Andrew Nembhard but how would that impact Hickman?

Gonzaga got Hickman likely under the belief that he would sit behind Nembhard for a year before taking over in the 2022-23 campaign. But Clark would likely start at point guard as well unless the team opts to run three-guard offenses and have Julian Strawther slide over to the four-spot once Chet Holmgren goes to the NBA.

There’s also Anthony Black, the only other five-star uncommitted prospect in the 2022 class that Gonzaga is a reported contender for as well. The Bulldogs can only take one so a decision will have to be made soon about who to prioritize if Clark’s recruitment is truly open.
