Quarterfinals

No. 1W North Texas vs. No. 4E Charlotte

Despite the weird end to the season, North Texas remains the top dog in Conference USA. Their first conference tournament game comes against a Charlotte team they held to 51 points earlier in the season. North Texas only led by two at the half but dominated in the second part of the game. Look for the Mean Green to try to leave no doubt right away.

PredictionNorth Texas 72, Charlotte 54

No. 2E Western Kentucky vs. No. 3W Louisiana Tech

This is a matchup between two of the best big men in the conference and all eyes will be on the paint as Sharp and Lofton battle for the Hilltoppers and Bulldogs, respectively. Sharp has the height advantage and blocks more shots than anyone. Lofton is more dynamic and can put the ball in the bucket much easier. Louisiana Tech won the only matchup this season by one point and this one should be close too.

Prediction: Louisiana Tech 70, Western Kentucky 67

No. 1E Middle Tennessee vs. No. 4W UTEP

Could Middle Tennessee’s Conference USA tournament run end after a single game? The Miners are dangerous and the Blue Raiders, despite a high-octane offense (73.9 points per game), don’t have anyone who can really take over in the big moments. That being said, MTSU did crush UTEP 77-59 in their earlier meeting this season, despite 24 points from Boum.

Prediction: Middle Tennessee 75, UTEP 65

No. 2W UAB vs. No. 3E Florida Atlantic

The UAB Blazers are the second-best team in Conference USA and should be able to prove that against the Owls. UAB beat FAU by 11 points earlier this season, with Quan Jackson and Jordan Walker nearly combining to outscore Florida Atlantic by themselves. Expect another dominant performance from the UAB guards here.

Prediction: UAB 80, Florida Atlantic 67
