6. Houston Cougars

I have the Cougars as a preseason top-3 team for next season and the work and development that head coach Kelvin Sampson has done with guards would normally make them an intriguing destination for someone like Couisnard. The problem I have is that I’m not sure there’s any room for the Gamecock transfer, barring several departures.

Houston is likely bringing back starting guard Jamal Shead and guards Tramon Mark and Marcus Sasser for next season. And if breakout March Madness start Kyler Edwards returns, Couisnard would be the 5th guard in the rotation and that doesn’t even include top-50 incoming guard  Emanuel Sharp. Had there been more room available, I would definitely have this option higher but for now, it doesn’t make great sense.

5. DePaul Blue Demons

The Big East program could use Couisnard to replace star guard Javon Freeman-Liberty in the backcourt and the transfer could be a featured part of the offense, playing alongside Jalen Terry and freshman Zion Cruz.

There’s a big contrast between DePaul and Houston when it comes to potential playing time versus the potential to win at a high level. And that’s why I have them both outside of the top 4. Couisnard can win at Houston but not get much playing time, whereas at DePaul he could play a lot but have a small chance at making the postseason. However, if he really values one over the other by a lot, one of these two teams here could have a better-than-expected shot.
