NCAA Basketball: Current ranking of top 100 transfers in 2022 offseason
By Bryan Mauro
10. Terry Roberts – Junior
The Bradley Braves have had a lot of talent come through their team the last handful of years and this year was no exception as Roberts is one of the best players in the transfer portal. Roberts transferred to Bradley from Florida Southwestern where he was one of the best players in Florida Southwestern history. He then went to Bradley and put up very impressive numbers last year. Roberts is an elite three-level scorer, he is a great passer, and a fantastic rebounder for his size.
The other part of his game that often goes unnoticed is his ability to step into passing lanes and get a ton of steals. He is a menace on the defensive end and is the focal point of a lot of game plans. The Missouri Valley Newcomer of the year is looking to go to a power five school to continue his development. Roberts is going to become one of the better scorers and defenders in all of College Basketball.
9. Jaelin Llewellyn – Senior (Committed to Clemson)
The senior guard is all about offense and running efficient offense. He is a transfer from Princeton who is all about ball movement and getting the best possible shot they can get. Llewellyn is usually the recipient of a wide-open shot that he is able to knock down. The senior started every game that he played for the Tigers and he improved in all facets of his game each year. The 2021-2022 season was his best as he shot 40% from deep and 45% overall from the floor. That is outstanding considering he didn’t play for a full season due to the Covid 19 Pandemic.
He has a ton of experience, takes great shots, and is an elite offensive player. He doesn’t get fouled very much which is a little concerning given his prowess on the offensive end of the floor, but even without going to the line he will still score around 15 a game and make a ton of tough shots.
8. Noah Carter – Sophomore (Committed to Missouri)
Carter is transferring from the Northern Iowa program where he was part of a trio of guards and wings that scored a ton of points. Carter was part of that trio and that trio was also one of the best shooting trios in the country as well. In this regard, Carter did most of his damage from inside the arc and in the paint, he shot a ton of threes over his three-year career with the Panthers but only shot a shade over 32% from deep
. He is an efficient scorer in the paint and from the free throw line. His career shooting percentage is just a shade under 50% overall. Carter is another offense-first player who can change things on that end of the floor quickly. He is also a good enough defender that he doesn’t have to leave the floor much. The wing should really try to focus on taking many of his shots inside the paint and take less than 100 threes, if he does that, he can be one of the best players in the country.
7. KJ Williams – Junior
Murray State had a fantastic year last year and headed into the NCAA tournament at 30-2 and on one of the nation’s longest winning streaks. They then saw their coach head off to LSU and that led to the entire Racers team entering the transfer portal. I do believe that had the coach for Murray State left the school that Williams would not be in the transfer portal.
The 6’10” big man is the best shooter for his size still in the portal. The junior center is still a force in the paint, but he also can stretch the floor. Some centers will shoot threes to keep the defense honest, but Murray State ran five out and every player on the floor had to be able to shoot. Williams shot 231 three-pointers over his career and hit 36% of them over his career. He also shot 57% from the floor and only needs 333 points to be a 2,000-point scorer for his career.
6. Nijel Pack – Sophomore
The guard came into Kansas State as a ranked recruit, he was ranked in the top 150, but I don’t think anyone expected him to be as good as he was at Kansas State. Pack has placed himself among some of the best Wildcats ever after two seasons. Pack joins Michael Beasley and Marcus Foster as the three freshmen to lead the team in scoring. That was a tremendous year to build on and build on it he did.
Pack was one of the top scorers in the entire Big 12 averaging 18 points per game and has developed himself into the best three-point shooter in the league and one of the best shooters in the entire country. The guard shot 218 threes last season and made 95 of them which is a 44% clip from beyond the arc. Even he brought nothing else that would get him a look at any school in the country.
Pack does so much more, he racks up steals and has a 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. The guard is a natural scorer and is going to be able to do this anywhere he goes considering he just dominated the best league in the country.
