Hart broke through as a true star as a junior, averaging 15.5 points as the best player on Villanova’s 2016 national championship team. As a senior in 2016-17, Hart averaged 18.7 points — a consensus first-team All-American, Big East Player of the Year, and Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year. In addition to winning a national championship, Villanova won four Big East regular-season titles and two Big East Tournament titles over Hart’s four seasons in Philly.

Hart is Villanova’s all-time leader in several advanced metrics as well, per Sports Reference, with player efficiency rating, effective field goal percentage, and win shares being three of the most notable.

1. Jalen Brunson – Villanova, 2016-2018

Career stats: 14.4 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 3.5 APG

As a freshman, Brunson started 39 of 40 games and averaged 9.6 points en route to a Big East regular-season championship and Villanova’s first national championship since 1985.

As a sophomore, Brunson averaged 14.7 points and 4.1 assists as the starting point guard on a Villanova team that won the Big East regular-season and tournament titles.

As a junior, Brunson was named the Big East Player of the Year and was the consensus National Player of the Year. He was the best player in the country on a Villanova team that won the national championship in dominant fashion, winning all six NCAA Tournament games by double digits.

Brunson only played three seasons in college, but he left as a two-time national champion, two-time Big East regular-season champion, two-time Big East Tournament champion, Big East Player of the Year, Final Four Most Outstanding Player, and as Villanova’s first and only consensus National Player of the Year.
